Axiom.TV to give away 33,000 Free Movies

Free MoviesRecently, Axiom.TV announced the launch the first comprehensive technology to make Internet TV user-friendly, legal and safe for families. To celebrate its international launch, Axiom.TV will give away free movies. They will give away the old family movie "Benji" to the first 33,000 households that sign up.

"It's an appropriate promotion, because 33 years ago 'Benji' was released in every drive-in theater and became the first big screen movie that the Internet generation can remember," explained Dan Cobb, president of Axiom.TV. "Now the 'Benji' generation is grown up, they want to enjoy these movies all over again, but with their kids."

Axiom.TV is currently in final negotiations with several of the major studios for additional movie content, soon to be released. While in negotiations, Axiom.TV will offer discounts on traditional DVD sales by mail. Axiom.TV has almost a thousand of the most popular DVDs including "Cars" and "Chronicles of Narnia."

Axiom.TV offers a family-focused video library, screened by a panel of moms and faith-based movie review partners, so protective parents can shop without concern. In order to build awareness of its new movie downloading service, Axiom.TV, has reduced its prices on traditional DVDs to be among the lowest prices on the Internet. Some of these DVDs are less than six dollars plus shipping of only $1.73.

Axiom.TV has developed a website that makes the movie download process user-friendly for all ages and for all computer skill-levels, making it a great service for everyone.

AMC Theatres Offers Fans Of Horror Movies An Early Halloween Treat: The "Saw-fest" Movie Marathon

horror moviesRecently, AMC Theatres announced details of "Saw-fest," a marathon of the 3 previously-released "Saw" horror movies leading up to the midnight show of the newest installation, "Saw IV," all for the price of a single admission ticket.

Saw-fest will take place Thursday, Oct. 25, in forty two participating AMC theatres in twenty five U.S. markets. The marathon will begin at six p.m. with short intermissions between each film, culminating in the 12:01 a.m. release of "Saw IV."

Tickets are available at all participating AMC theatres and at AMCTheatres.com.

"The "Saw" series is quickly becoming a Halloween tradition, and we've seen few horror films release on the same date because of its recent success," said Zach Baze, vice president, marketing, at AMC Theatres. "Saw-fest is a rare opportunity for fans to see this exciting film series in succession, building to the much anticipated release of "Saw IV."

The "Saw" film series is a popular horror film franchise created by James Wan and Leigh Whannell, beginning in 2004 and continuing to the present.

The series' main plot revolves around the Jigsaw Killer, a vigilante who kidnaps victims and places them in deadly traps to test them and see if they are deserving of the life they have abused.

The victims, almost always chosen because they have taken their lives for granted, are usually linked to each other in one way or another. The films tend to conclude with a twisted ending that wraps things up, but also leaves more questions to be answered in the following film.

Guests who attend Saw-fest are free to come and go throughout the duration of the series, but will need to keep and produce their ticket stub to ensure re-admission into the Saw-fest auditorium.

New Research On How Horror Movies Affect Different Viewers

horror moviesRecently, new research has determined that non-horror fans (the people who have to cover their eyes during scary scenes) are actually no more frightened than horror fans when watching horror movies.

The findings challenge the prevailing belief that horror fans do not experience fear at the same depths as the supposedly more sensitive people who would rather watch comedy than killing.

The four-part study, published in the Journal of Consumer Research, also concludes that the most terrifying scenes in scary movies are the ones that rouse the most pleasure among horror fans.

This mixed experience of fear and happiness counters the notion that negative and positive emotions can't be triggered simultaneously, while much of the existing research has suggested horror fans simply endure discomfort to enjoy the flood of relief that follows.

In fact, it was only among the horror-averse that significant levels of happiness registered at the end of a chilling scene.

According to study co-author Eduardo Andrade, a marketing professor at the University of California-Berkeley, the capacity to simultaneously experience fear and pleasure is directly linked with having a "protective frame."

That is, knowledge that no real-life danger exists in a given on-screen situation.

Horror fans are more likely to have these dual feelings because they maintain a certain level of detachment that allows them to absorb fear while still enjoying the movie.

Those people who typically avoid scary movies, however, don't approach nail-biting scenes with a like sense of safety and thus experience the same level of fear as horror fans but "virtually zero" enjoyment.

"They just hope it's going to be over soon," says Andrade.

Downloadable Movies

Downloadable MoviesRecently, a long awaited technology was announced that will let people burn downloadable movies to DVDs, representing a potential milestone in the development of online movie services.

Sonic Solutions Inc. of Novato, Calif., said it has one approval for its technology, which makes it possible for people to record homemade DVDs containing the same copy protection found on professionally made DVDs.

The approval came after prolonged negotiations with the DVD Copy Control Assn., a conglomerate of movie studios, electronics companies and computer makers.

As with any new technology, the Sonic Solutions Qflix software will take time to have an effect on the entertainment market.

Jim Taylor, a Sonic Solutions Senior Vice-President, said consumers would need special DVD burners and recordable discs that use its technology, although the discs would play on standard DVD players.

Those products probably won't appear in stores until early next year, he said.

Electronics manufacturers such as Pioneer Corp. and PC maker Dell Inc. have announced support for the technology.

The major Hollywood studios have insisted on anti-piracy protection identical to that offered on DVDs before they would permit online movie services to let consumers make copies of mainstream movies.

"Sonic is perfectly positioned for this to happen," Taylor said.

New Movies

New MoviesAccording to a recent poll of moviegoers, the upcoming Indiana Jones adventure is the most anticipated movie scheduled for release in the next year.

"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," the fourth movie in Steven Spielberg's adventure franchise, topped the survey conducted by MovieTickets.com, followed by the next Batman movie, "The Dark Knight."

The poll involved asking more than two thousand moviegoers to rank their interest level in a list of new movies from one to five.

The top ten also included several others based on existing film franchises, such as the "Chronicles of Narnia," and "National Treasure."

Only 2 originals films, "American Gangster," and "I Am Legend" made it into the top ten.

"The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," starring Harrison Ford as adventurer Indiana Jones, will be released worldwide in May 2008, nearly 20 years after Steven Spielberg and George Lucas last brought the heroic archaeologist to the big screen in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."

Men and women alike ranked the Indiana Jones movie as their most anticipated film, and included "The Dark Knight (Batman Begins 2)," "National Treasure: Book of Secrets," "American Gangster", and "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian," in their top 5 new movies.

James Bond Movies

James Bond MoviesRecently, former 007, Roger Moore, revealed that he is eager to make a comeback to the James Bond franchise, not as Bond, but as a villain.

Moore, who portrayed the secret agent in seven James Bond films between 1973 and 1985, has hardly been offered a chance to play a villain onscreen during his long film career and therefore, craves the opportunity to play a baddie.

With the new Bond movie scheduled to begin shooting in the next few months in Panama, the aging actor has revealed that he would love to portray the role of a bad guy in the film.

"I'd like to play a villain," Moore says, "They get the best lines."

Moore took over the reins of 007 from Sean Connery in 1973s "Live and Let Die."

The actor appeared in the next 6 James Bond movies, including "The Man with the Golden Gun" (1974), "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977), "Moonraker" (1979), "For Your Eyes Only" (1981), "Octopussy" (1983), and "A View to a Kill" (1985).

Ultimately, at least some of what James Bond became was a consequence of Moore.

Download Movies

download movies Movie download services are exactly what they sound like: a service that allows you to download movies from the Internet onto your hard drive or a DVD. Though this isn't a new concept, it is relatively new to the legal world of consumerism.

Though 'pirates' have been making free download of movies available for quite some time, movie studios are now getting in on the action and offering access to their movies for download the day they hit the stores in DVD format for a fee, of course.

The biggest benefit of movie download services is convenience. Forget about the long lines at the theater, the video store being out of a new release, or waiting in a virtual queue to get your mailed DVD through a subscription service.

No more concern about court cases and legal fees for downloading movies illegally or spy-ware from file sharing applications that will slow down your computer if not cripple it beyond repair.

Then, of course, there's the fact that you can watch the newest movies as many times as you like on your personal computer and instantly upon purchase with no waiting and no driving to the store.

At the moment, the biggest drawbacks to movie download services are cost and restricted viewing access. You may not necessarily want to watch a movie on your computer when you just invested a lot of money in a big screen HDTV.

Also, you may not want to invest twenty dollars in a movie that you can't even resell online if you don't like it.

If you have a slow Internet connection, the download time may be excruciating too, especially if you're trying to use your computer for other things while downloading and, the process slows your computer to a painful snails pace.

If you use a Mac, well, obviously, the downside is that movie download services simply don't exist.

In addition, if a virus infects the computer where all your movies are stored, you have to buy them all over again.

PSP Movies

PSP Movies The Sony PSP is one of the greatest video game systems ever created, and one of today's most popular as well. Not only can you play video games, but you can watch movies, listen to music, and much more.

Given that the system is small, it does not allow you to play DVDs, so you must buy the PSP movies you want to watch on the PSP. PSP movies can be more expensive than DVDs, and they can only be played on a PSP and no where else.

Methods have now been discovered that will allow you to download an unlimited number of PSP movies right onto your PSP without ever having to pay per file again. Actually, you can get movies, games, music, and almost any PSP file you can think of for free now.

Tips for getting instant PSP movie Downloads:

First you need to actually find the file on the Internet (the PSP movie you want to watch). You have two options here, you can either spend hours going through the entire Internet trying to find it, or you can use a simple site such as PSPNerd which will connect you almost instantly.

The way these download sites work is by allowing you to do a targeted search through a very specific network. On this network, you can find just about any PSP movie you want.

After this just download your PSP movie files to your computer, connect your computer to your PSP, and transfer the file over. You may need some simple software to help do this, but sites like PSPNerd all offer this software for free.

You can do this rather quickly and it can save you a ton of money rather than having to pay for every file you want.
